But unlike most value laptops that come with extraneous pre-installed software, the P755-S5320 solves that problem with the Best Buy app. The Asus U56E-BBL6 and Gateway NV55S05u both have the same size and capacity drive. The 640GB, 5,400rpm hard drive isn't quite the biggest around, but it's as big as you're going to get for this price range. There's also 802.11n Wi-Fi and a DVD-RW drive. Its USB 2.0 ports also double as charging docks for your USB devices, like smartphones and MP3 players, while your computer is asleep. The P755-S5320 has a wide selection of ports, but nothing outside the usual there are three USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI video outputs, headphone and mic jacks, and an Ethernet jack. However, the Asus U56E-BBL6 has it outmatched with WiDi 2.0, USB 3.0, and WiMAX 4G wireless broadband included.

There's WiDi 2.0, a wireless technology that allows you to stream 1080p video content from your laptop to an external display (provided you have a Netgear Push2TV receiver), and a USB 3.0 interface.
The P755-S5320 comes with a decent amount of features for a budget laptop. The oval mouse buttons were easy to click and made a minimal amount of noise. The touchpad had a nice matte finish that offered up a nice navigating experience. The keys have a glossy finish, which can be slippery when typing. The keyboard is in the chiclet style, with an adjacent numeric keypad. Above the screen is a webcam for video chatting. The display has a 1,366-by-768 resolution, standard for this price range.

It 15.6-inch widescreen is the perfect size for multitasking, allowing you have view two windows side-by-side. The entire chassis weighs 5.42 pounds, which puts it on the lighter side of the 15-inch laptop space compared with the Gateway NV55S05u (5.6 pounds) and Asus U56E-BBL6 (5.6 pounds). The only difference is the NV55S05u's design is attractive, whereas the Satellite P755-S5320 is…well, these things are very subjective.
But the Satellite P755-S5320, like the Gateway NV55S05u ($579.99 list, 4 stars), chose to go with a plastic enclosure. Some budget laptops, like the Asus U56E-BBL6 ($699.99 list, 4 stars) and Lenovo IdeaPad V570-1066AJU ($629.99 list, 4 stars), have adopted the aluminum designs that used to be exclusive to high-end systems. It sprinkles in extra features like WiDi 2.0 and a USB 3.0 interface to make it worth your while, but there are other laptops that have it beat. But its price ($729.99 list at Best Buy) seems a little steep compared with other budget laptops. The Toshiba Satellite P755-S5320 has all the qualities of a budget system: Enough performance to get you through the day-to-day tasks through its Core i3 processor and a decent design.
